Eventually, the friends and relatives to whom I sent my homemade cards began asking for some for themselves. By 1999, even some local Boston-based stores began asking for orders. By this time, the demands of the labor process coupled with the inferior quality of a mounted xerox copy convinced me to take the plunge and have the images professionally reproduced as high-end notecards.
Since then, Krause Design’s product line has grown to include over 40 notecards, over 20 gift enclosures, and several limited-edition prints. Furthermore, I am selling my original artwork and hand-painted silk scarves.
My work is now available at retail outlets around the US. Yet, as someone who navigates the internet for all sorts of products, I have wanted to make my work accessible online.
So, finally, here I am. Please browse this site which will continue to grow as more products become available. Some pages are still under construction but you will find a complete line of notecards, gift enclosures, holiday cards as well as prints and hand-painted silk scarves currently available.
I am sure you will find something here to enjoy yourself or to send as a gift. Here are some things others have said about my work:
“A vibrant floral notecard turns the thrill of gardening into a memorable keepsake.” From Pamela Graves, Giftware News, 11/2000, p. 74.
“Even if you can’t get your hydrangeas or peonies to bloom, you can get the vicarious thrill of the gardener with these vibrant floral notecards….[W]atercolor artist Susan Krause[‘s]… use of rich, bold colors sets her apart from the crowd…” From The Sunday Boston Globe Magazine, 8/22/99, p.39.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Susan Krause
